CUPPING

Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small glass or plastic cups as suction devices that are placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing congested blood, stagnant energy or other body fluids such as lymph, phlegm and inflammatory debris to the surface.

For centuries, cupping has been used as an essential part of traditional Chinese medicine.

Cupping is one of the best deep tissue therapies available. The cups can be left in place or moved along the affected area. Cupping is much like the inverse of massage – rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. This technique is used to relieve back and neck pain, muscle stiffness and spasms, and rheumatism. Cupping treatments can also help clear congestion from the common cold, asthma and other respiratory illnesses.

GUA SHA

Gua Sha (pronounced "gwa-shah") is a traditional treatment used in Chinese medicine, in which a smooth handheld instrument, often made from jade or stone, glides along the skin to promote healthy blood circulation, support lymphatic drainage, and the break down myofascial adhesions.

This therapy can be applied gently to the face and with firmer pressure on the body and has a wide variety of applications including sports injuries, beautifying treatments, seasonal allergies, Temperomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) , and facial paralysis.

Cupping and Gua Sha are both soothing, gentle, and very relaxing.
